Journey to Cáceres

It is a lovely crisp day.  We say goodbye to our view of the Valley de Jerte.  We leave at midday from the station to travel due south  for one hour.

We pass extensive lakes with views across the matorral to distant Portuguese hills.

We arrive at midday and are met by our host, the lovely Hector, who drives us to our apartment in the heart of the old town.

The apartment is perfectly situated with views across the country and into the heart of the old town. Inside the thick stone walls we are kept warm by the wood burning stove and we have a jacuzzi to boot. Photos later!
Although there is a good tapas bar round the corner (La Cacharreria) and a breakfast bar cum music venue two minutes in the other direction,(El Corral de las Cigüeñas), there is never anyone about and with the exception of a group of chicos who hang around our window for a while on Friday night around 9pm, we don’t hear a soul.
Read about our couple of days here in subsequent posts.
