Now we visit the Alcazar as we are right on it's door step. It is Mother's Day and we have both received our texts.
The Alcazar is not as large or well preserved as most. And feels rather insignificant amidst the marvellous Roman constructions. But the view from the walls is great. The fort was constructed in 835 AD by
Abderraman II. Interestingly, it was the first
arabic alcazaba of the Iberian Peninsula. Not the most impressive alcazar we have seen
but perhaps we have been spoilt by the wonderful and extensive Roman
remains.
We wander through the Plaza again and see children playing in their Sunday best.
A stork and her babies watch from their nest.
