Afterwards we decide to head off to the park for a picnic on the banks of the Río Jerte. We pass a stretch of the old town wall.
We arrive at the Blomberg Brewery just after closing time. Oh well, we can always go out again tonight !
This is our lovely picnic spot with a view of the cathedral over the river.
On the way home we come across the Iglesia de San Nicolás which was constructed in the thirteenth century.
Here is the beautiful Plaza de San Nicolás.
So now, guess what? My chum deserves a treat! Afternoon tea at the Parador. The cakes are delicious. (And the price bearable) The Plasencia Parador occupies Santo Domingo Monastery, built in the fifteenth century. Thick stone
walls and vaulted ceilings await us in the Gothic
style interior.
Refreshed, we wander home via El Parque de los Pinos by the remaining fifty five arches of the sixteenth-century aqueduct.
And you will be happy to hear that we find the Blomberg!
